Reports to: Chief Revenue Officer

Location: Southampton | Remote first, with occasional travel to the office, typically 1 to 2 days per month.

Salary: £70,000 basic, up to £90,000 OTE

Right to work: You'll need the right to work in the UK for this role. If you have questions about sponsorship, get in touch before applying.

About SkyBound

SkyBound delivers automated drone operations for critical national infrastructure, providing real-time aerial intelligence to support safety, security and faster decision-making.

We combine software, AI and remote operations, with systems managed from our Southampton-based 24/7 control centre and deployed across the UK in some of the most complex airspaces to enable rapid response and continuous site awareness.

As we continue to scale, we're looking for a driven Sales professional to join the team and help shape the future of autonomous operations.

The role

This is a new-business closing role.

Our Business Development team creates and qualifies opportunities across every sector we work in. You pick things up from there - taking ownership from qualification right through to signature, shaping the commercial proposition, building the business case with the customer, leading negotiations, and steering the deal through procurement and legal to get it over the line.

Once a contract's signed, you hand the customer over to our Commercial Account Managers, who take the relationship forward from there. Your job is to win the deal on the right terms.

You'll be selling to senior operational, commercial and procurement leaders across Rail, Critical National Infrastructure, Utilities, Aviation, Defence, Highways, Ports and Public Safety - and likely beyond. These are organisations with long, multi-stakeholder buying cycles and formal procurement processes, so you'll need the patience and discipline to manage that properly.

Success here looks like new contract value closed, win rate, deal velocity, and the quality of the terms you secure - pricing, payment terms, contract length and risk position all count.

What you'll be doing

Owning an annual target for new enterprise contract value, with support from the CRO

Taking ownership of qualified opportunities from Business Development and running a disciplined deal process through to signature

Mapping buying groups and building consensus across operational, commercial, procurement, legal and executive stakeholders

Building commercial proposals and business cases that quantify the operational, safety and cost outcomes customers actually care about

Structuring deals - pricing, contract length, payment terms and SLAs - in a way that protects margin and fits our risk appetite

Leading commercial negotiations and demonstrations with senior decision makers and procurement teams

Leading tender and framework responses alongside the Solutions team

Working with Project Managers, Operations and leadership to make sure what you sell can actually be delivered

Keeping an accurate pipeline and forecast in the CRM, with clear close plans for every opportunity

Handing over closed accounts cleanly to Commercial Account Management

Feeding market, pricing and competitor insight back to Product and leadership

About you

You're a commercial closer who enjoys complex, high-value deals and knows how to get them over the line on terms that work for both sides. You understand how large, regulated organisations actually buy technology, and you can steer a deal through procurement, legal and executive sign-off without losing momentum or margin along the way. You're comfortable with commercial contracts - you can read a proposal and spot the risk hiding in a liability or SLA clause, then negotiate a fix without derailing the conversation. You're motivated by targets and genuinely comfortable being accountable for a number, and you'll enjoy the autonomy and influence that comes with helping shape how a scale-up grows.

What you'll need

A proven track record closing high-value new enterprise contracts in B2B technology, SaaS or technology-enabled services

Consistent achievement against a new-business target

Experience running long, complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders and formal procurement

Strong commercial negotiation skills across pricing, payment terms and SLAs

Working knowledge of commercial contracts - MSAs, SaaS and licensing agreements, NDAs

Confidence presenting proposals and business cases to C-suite and executive boards

Disciplined pipeline management and accurate forecasting

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the UK

Nice to have

Experience selling into Rail, Critical National Infrastructure, Utilities, Aviation, Defence, Highways, Ports or Public Safety

Experience of public sector procurement, frameworks and formal tenders

Experience selling drones, AI, IoT, remote monitoring or industrial technology

Experience in a scale-up where you helped shape the sales process yourself

What can we offer you?

Alongside the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology and a great team, we offer:

£70,000 (£90,000 OTE)

23 days annual leave plus public holidays

Enhanced employer pension contribution

Industry relevant training and development

Flexible and casual working environment

Health and wellbeing support

24/7 Employee Assistance Programme

EV charging points at the office

Internal and external development opportunities

Access to a range of salary sacrifice benefits

Group Life assurance

Casual dress and company sick pay

You'll also be joining at a genuinely exciting point for the business - working on technology that saves lives and helps the move toward more environmentally friendly operations, with real room to build your own team as things grow.

As we continue to scale, we are looking for a driven Flight test Engineer to join the team and help shape the future of autonomous operations.

The Role

We're looking for a Flight Test Engineer to join our Testing team, integrating and testing fixed-wing, VTOL and multirotor UAS. You'll assess new markets and aircraft platforms alongside our Design, Software and Engineering teams, and work with external stakeholders to develop and test new capabilities.

In practice, you'll be doing three things: flying test programmes (including BVLOS, from Southampton or on-site), defining and running the test programmes themselves, and feeding what you learn back into how we operate - troubleshooting equipment in the field, writing up findings, and helping shape procedure.

What you'll do

Plan and conduct safe, compliant test flight operations, working with the operations and technical teams to confirm requirements and site suitability

Operate as Remote Pilot BVLOS across the UK and internationally, from the Remote Operations Centre or on-site

Define and execute test programmes for new software, hardware and systems, evaluating performance and new features

Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues and non-standard behaviour in the field, maintaining equipment to compliance standards

Manage risk dynamically during flight trials, and produce accurate post-flight reports, escalating bugs and anomalies as needed

Liaise with internal teams before, during and after operations, and feed lessons learned into procedure development

What you'll need

Demonstrable experience piloting UAS in a research and development environment. A UK GVC or A2CofC is not required if you can robustly evidence equivalent experience - including international or defence-sector backgrounds

Strong communication with both internal teams and external clients

Sound judgement and problem-solving under pressure, including dynamic risk assessment

Proven ability to independently plan, prioritise and own your own workload

A collaborative, team-first approach and openness to suggesting new ways of working

A full UK driving licence

Willingness to travel within the UK, including possible maritime deployments

Comfort working with sensitive, confidential information

Nice to have (not required — we'd rather hear about relevant experience than tick every box)

Formal flight test engineer training or equivalent hands-on experience

Hands-on experience with fixed-wing or VTOL UAS using flight software such as ArduPilot Mission Planner or QGroundControl

Aviation qualifications relating to UAS design, test flight operations, safety or risk management

A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

What we offer

23 days annual leave plus public holidays

4% employer pension contribution

Free on-site parking and EV charging points

Industry-relevant training and development, internal and external

Flexible, casual working environment

Health and wellbeing support, including a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme

Free tea, coffee and fruit
